Is Virtualization the best way to go?

Good Afternoon my fellow Bloggers! Today I’d like to discuss the ongoing topic of Virtualization. I’m hearing a lot of buzz lately on how amazing it is, but ive always been told that if something seems too good to be true then it usually is. I’m curious, how many people are in fact utilizing Virtualization in their IT Infrastructure. Also, how do we know that Virtualization will dramatically improve the efficiency and availability of resources and applications in our organization? Well i guess the only way to truly test it out is to do it ourselves…If virtualization does in fact help IT professionals cut back on time spent managing servers, just think how much more time can be utilized for brainstorming newer and better ideas!

I found a VMware video that illustrates exactly how to cut back on costs. Check it out!

I’d love to hear some feedback on what other people think of Virtualization, so be sure to comment and don’t forget to take my poll! 🙂

  1. Hi Michelle,

Virtualization is very useful for application failover, disaster recovery and migration. But it also can be a terrific server consolidation technique. We use it as part of our Green IT strategy. By consolidating servers, companies save on their electric usage. so they lower their costs and reduce their carbon footprint.
